The Ambassador of Myanmar to Sri Lanka visited the Nāgānanda International Institute for Buddhist Studies and engaged in a special discussion. The conversation focused on strengthening the relationship between our Institute and Myanmar, as well as expressing concern and solidarity regarding the recent tragic earthquake in Myanmar.
The occasion was graced by the participation of the Vice Chancellor, Ven. Dr. Bodagama Chandima Nayaka Thero; Deputy Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies, Ven. Dr. Dampe Vijitharathana Thero; Vice Chancellor’s Coordinator, Ven. Suriyawewa Sumedha Thero; and the Registrar of the Institute.
The discussion also highlighted the Buddha Shravika Scholarship Programme offered by our Institute to students from Myanmar.
ශ්රී ලංකාවේ මියන්මාර් තානාපතිතුමිය අප විශ්වවිද්යාල ආයතනයේ සංචාරයක නිරත වෙමින් විශේෂ සාකච්ඡාවක් පවත්වන්නට යෙදුණි. එහිදී අප ආයතනය හා මියන්මාරය අතර සහ සම්බන්ධතාව ඇති කරගත යුතු ආකාරය පිළිබදවත් පසුගියදා සිදු වූ සෝචනීය භූමිකම්පාව පිළිබදවත් අවධානය යොමු කෙරුණි.
මේ අවස්ථාවට අප සමග විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ නියෝජ්ය උපකුලපති හා බෞද්ධ අධ්යයන පීඨයේ පීඨාධිපති ආචාර්ය දම්පේ විජිතරතන හිමි, උපකුලපති සම්බන්ධීකාරක සූරියවැව සුමේධ හිමි සහ ලේඛකාධිකාරීතුමන් සහභාගී විය. අප ආයතනය විසින් මියන්මාරය වෙත ප්රදානය කරනු ලබන බුද්ධශ්රාවිකා ශිෂ්යත්ව වැඩසටහන පිළිබදවත් සාකච්ඡා සිදුවුණි.
